Speaking on the sidelines of SPIEF 2026 in St. Petersburg, UAE Deputy Finance Minister Younis Haji Al Khoori described the Russia-UAE relationship as one built on special economic ties strengthened through regular leadership contacts and consistent bilateral engagement.

A Special Bond Between Russia and the UAE
The relationship between Russia and the United Arab Emirates goes well beyond routine diplomacy it carries a distinctly economic character. UAE Deputy Finance Minister Younis Haji Al Khoori made this clear during his appearance at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) 2026.
Al Khoori told reporters that Moscow and Abu Dhabi share something more than ordinary ties. “This is reflected in the mutual contacts between the leadership of the two countries, regular dialogue, and bilateral meetings,” he said on the sidelines of the forum.

SPIEF 2026 runs from June 3 to 6 in St. Petersburg. The forum has once again become a major platform for diplomatic and economic conversations. Russia and the UAE have been using it to reinforce their growing partnership.
