Boost for Indian Traders: Goyal Proposes Mega ‘Swadeshi Mela’
Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal made a major suggestion. He addressed the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) national leadership conference. Goyal proposed organizing the biggest ‘Swadeshi Mela’ ever in Delhi. He emphasized this fair will showcase the power of business. It will also reveal India’s extensive trading capacity.
Strengthening National Campaigns
The Minister noted this will bolster major campaigns. It will strengthen ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ (Self-Reliant India). It will also boost ‘Vocal for Local’ globally. Piyush Goyal specifically asked CAIT to collaborate with ITPO. The goal is to host a spectacular “Swadeshi Mela” in Delhi.
The Minister’s Vision
Piyush Goyal called India’s traders the backbone of the national economy. He also described them as the strongest pillar of growth. He commended CAIT for its proactive initiative. Goyal also stressed the need to strengthen several areas. These include skill development and women’s entrepreneurship. Cyber security and technology-based trade structures are also crucial.
According to the Union Minister, this fair will become a global platform. It will display the new India’s innovation potential. The fair will also highlight its diversity and emerging trade power. Goyal urged CAIT to hold ‘Swadeshi Melas’ across the entire country. This would give campaigns like ‘Vocal for Local’ strength and a stage.
Trade Body’s Response
Praveen Khandelwal, CAIT National Secretary General, praised traders’ contributions. He is also the MP for Chandni Chowk. Khandelwal stated PM Modi’s initiative energized the trade sector. He affirmed continuous efforts to protect traders’ interests.
Meanwhile, B.C. Bhartia, CAIT National President, stressed the need to strengthen trade organizations. He also shared CAIT’s future action plan with the attendees.
