Mumbai Cops Crack Down on Fake Call Centre in Dehradun, Nab 11 for Cheating Job Seekers

Mumbai Police busted an illegal call centre in Dehradun, Uttarakhand. Officers arrested 11 people for defrauding job seekers with fake airline job offers.

Mumbai Police have exposed a fraudulent call centre running out of Dehradun. The bust came after a Mumbai woman reported being cheated in a fake job scam.

The Mankhurd police station received a complaint from the city-based woman in early 2024. She alleged that fraudsters tricked her into believing they could get her a job with a private airline.

The accused convinced her to transfer nearly Rs 2.5 lakh into their bank accounts. They claimed the money was needed for the recruitment process.

After she paid, no job offer arrived. The accused then went completely silent and stopped picking up her calls.

Left with no choice, the woman walked into Mankhurd police station and filed a formal complaint. Police took the case seriously and launched a thorough investigation.

Detectives traced the operation to Uttarakhand’s capital city, Dehradun. A Mumbai Police team travelled to the location and raided the fake call centre.

Officers arrested 11 people connected to the illegal setup. The fake call centre had been systematically targeting job aspirants across the country.

Police seized nine laptops, 13 mobile phones, and several other incriminating items from the premises. The haul pointed to a well-organised fraud operation targeting desperate job seekers.

A Mankhurd police official confirmed that further investigation is currently underway. Authorities are working to identify other possible victims of this racket.
