Australia Dominates the First Test

Australia has beaten England by 8 wickets in the first Ashes Test. The match ended in just two days. The Kangaroo team needed 205 runs in the fourth innings. Travis Head played a brilliant knock of 123 runs alone. He ensured Australia’s victory with ease. This match caused a major change in the World Test Championship points table. Australia still holds the top spot in the current WTC cycle.

Australia continues to dominate the World Test Championship points table. They have won all four matches in the WTC 2025-27 cycle so far. Their points percentage stands at a perfect 100. Australia is currently far ahead of other teams. On the other hand, England’s troubles are increasing rapidly. They have only two wins from six matches in this cycle. England sits at the sixth spot on the table. Their points percentage is currently just 36.11.

South Africa is currently in second place and is also the defending champion. Sri Lanka is third, and India is in fourth place. Pakistan holds the fifth spot, while England remains at sixth. Bangladesh and West Indies have not won any matches yet. They are in seventh and eighth places respectively. New Zealand is also on the list.

Match Lasted Only Two Days

The first Ashes Test between Australia and England lasted only two days. Fans and experts are criticizing the Perth pitch heavily. England’s first innings folded for just 172 runs. In response, the hosts Australia could only score 132 runs. England had secured a lead of 40 runs.

England’s batting failed again in the second innings. They scored only 164 runs. However, with the 40-run lead, they gave Australia a target of 205 runs. Australia won the match easily thanks to Travis Head. He scored a century of 123 runs. Marnus Labuschagne also contributed with a fifty of 51 runs.
