UIDAI SITAA: The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has launched a major tech innovation program. It is named SITAA (Scheme for Innovation and Technology Association with Aadhaar).

The UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India) launched a major tech innovation program. The program is named SITAA (Scheme for Innovation and Technology Association with Aadhaar). This aims to strengthen the country’s digital identity framework. This new initiative partners with startups, academia, and industry. They will work together to make the Aadhaar system more secure, fast, and trustworthy.
High-Tech System to Combat Deepfakes
The SITAA program will develop cutting-edge AI-based solutions. These will boost real-time deepfake detection. They will also improve face liveness detection. Furthermore, they will advance contactless fingerprint authentication. UIDAI has now invited innovation proposals for this work. The deadline for submission is set for November 15, 2025.
Partnership with MeitY Startup Hub and NASSCOM
UIDAI has teamed up with MeitY Startup Hub (MSH) and NASSCOM. This partnership will ensure the mission’s success. MSH will offer mentorship, incubation, and accelerator support to startups. NASSCOM will foster industry connections and global collaborations. UIDAI states SITAA is a big step. It moves India toward a secure, self-reliant, and inclusive digital identity system.
SITAA’s Three Core Technical Challenges
Face Liveness Detection
Startups should develop Software Development Kits (SDKs). These SDKs must instantly detect fraudulent attempts. Such attempts include deepfakes, masks, or photo spoofing. The solutions should work across various devices, demographics, and environments. They must operate smoothly at both server and mobile levels.
Presentation Attack Detection
This challenge is meant for research institutions. They should use AI and Machine Learning. The goal is to develop systems that spot attacks like print, replay, or morphing. These technologies must maintain high accuracy and privacy compliance. They must also be compatible with Aadhaar APIs.
Contactless Fingerprint Authentication
UIDAI wants proposals for touchless fingerprint identification. This should use smartphone cameras or low-cost sensors. This technology will ensure accurate identification. It must also comply with liveness detection and AFIS-standard templates.
A New Revolution in Aadhaar Security
The SITAA program is part of the UIDAI strategy. This strategy uses futuristic technologies for protection. It safeguards Aadhaar from deepfakes and biometric fraud threats. This scheme aligns with the Digital Public Infrastructure and Aatmanirbhar Bharat vision. It moves India toward becoming a safe and self-reliant nation in digital identity technology.
