PM Modi Calls for Rethinking Global Standards

Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke at the G20 Summit in South Africa. This is the first time the event is being held there. He urged leaders to rethink global development standards deeply. Modi noted that G20 has shaped finance for a long time. However, current models have left a large population without resources.

Participation in the Three-Day Summit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Johannesburg on Friday, November 21, 2025. He is participating in the three-day G20 Summit until November 23. During the event, PM Modi gave a speech at a special session. The theme was ‘Inclusive and Sustainable Economic Growth for All’.

Critique of Previous Development Models

PM Modi said, “In the last few decades, G20 has guided global finance and economic growth.” However, the parameters used so far have failed many people. A huge population remains deprived of essential resources. This approach also increased the over-exploitation of nature. Africa suffers greatly from this. He added, “Today Africa is hosting the G20 Summit for the first time.” We must reconsider our development parameters here.

The Path of Integral Humanism

He stated, “One path lies in the values of Indian civilization.” That path is of Integral Humanism. This means we must view humans, society, and nature as an “Integrated Whole”. Only then can harmony exist between progress and nature.

Preserving Traditional Lifestyles

PM Modi noted that many communities have preserved their traditional ways. He said, “Many communities in the world have preserved their Traditional & Eco-Balanced Lifestyle.” These traditions show sustainability and cultural wisdom. They also show social unity and deep respect for nature.

Proposal for Global Knowledge Repository

He said, “India proposes to create a Global Traditional Knowledge Repository under G20.” India’s existing Knowledge Systems Initiative can serve as a base. This global platform will help pass collective human wisdom to future generations.
