Lebanon’s Hezbollah movement announced it carried out ten combat operations targeting Israeli military forces across southern Lebanon on Sunday hitting armored vehicles, artillery positions, and troop gatherings using drones, rockets, and explosive devices.

Southern Lebanon Turns Into an Active BattlegroundLebanon’s Hezbollah movement declared Sunday a day of fierce resistance announcing ten separate combat operations against Israeli military forces across southern Lebanon. The announcement came through the movement’s official press service, signaling a sharp escalation along the already tense border zone.
“The Islamic Resistance carried out ten combat operations on May 17, 2026,” reads the official statement from Hezbollah’s media arm.
A Wide Range of Targets Hit Across Multiple Locations
The operations were far from random. Hezbollah fighters directed their strikes at Israeli engineering vehicles, military automobiles, an artillery position, and electronic warfare equipment. Troop concentrations were also hit in areas including Bayada, Rshaf, Adayseh, Deir al-Siryan, Naqoura, and near the settlement of Yohmor al-Shqif.
The group reported using a mix of assault drones, artillery fire, rocket salvos, and explosive devices targeting both equipment and personnel in coordinated strikes across several fronts simultaneously.
Explosive Device Detonated During Israeli Advance
One incident stood out in the reports. As an Israeli unit attempted to push forward into the Safita area near Yohmor al-Shqif, Hezbollah fighters detonated an explosive device forcing the advance to halt. The move highlighted the group’s use of planted explosives as a key defensive and offensive tool in the ongoing ground confrontation.
Hezbollah Frames Strikes as Response to Ceasefire Violations
Hezbollah made clear that these operations were not unprovoked. The movement described the ten strikes as a direct response to continued Israeli bombardment of southern Lebanon and to what it calls repeated violations of the ceasefire agreement. The group has consistently framed its military actions as a counterresponse to Israeli activity in the region.
