Houthis Declare Full Mobilization to Break Saudi Arabia’s Blockade on Yemen

Yemen’s Houthi movement formally known as Ansar Allah has announced a full and immediate mobilization of its forces. The group says it is ready to end the ongoing Saudi-imposed blockade on territories under its control.

Houthis Claim Hundreds of Thousands Are Combat-Ready

The Houthi militia’s official statement, broadcast on Al Masirah television channel, declared the movement’s full combat readiness. “We announce our complete and immediate readiness to provide the army with fighters to restore the rights of the Yemeni people, expel the occupiers, and lift the blockade on our country,” the statement said.

The group further claimed that its armed and organized militia forces number in the hundreds of thousands. These fighters, it says, are well-trained and fully prepared for action at any moment.

Accelerated Training on All Levels

Beyond its existing strength, the movement signaled an upcoming surge in military preparation. “Training and preparation are continuing and will intensify further in the coming period at all levels,” the statement noted.

This mobilization announcement signals a hardening stance from the Sana’a-based movement even as fragile peace talks with Riyadh remain in motion.

Peace Talks Stall Then Restart Over Key Demands

The Houthis have engaged in negotiations with Saudi Arabia since 2023, seeking a formal peace agreement to end the long-running Yemen conflict. Those talks froze for a period but resumed again toward the end of last year.

The movement’s core demands remain unchanged and deeply consequential. Houthi negotiators insist that the Saudi-led Arab coalition must pay war reparations for the widespread destruction caused by its bombing campaigns across Yemen. They also demand a full lifting of the land and air blockade including a major increase in the number of flights operating out of Sana’a International Airport.

Until those demands are met, Sana’a shows no sign of standing down.
