Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko says negotiations between Minsk and Washington are showing progress on several issues, even as the process remains difficult.

Lukashenko Points To Progress In Talks With Washington
Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said Thursday that talks between Belarus and the United States are advancing on a number of fronts.
He noted that the process has not been simple for the American side either, since there is plenty of work involved.
“I must say the US administration doesn’t have it easy today, there’s plenty of work to do. But I really appreciate that President Trump and his team are paying attention to our contacts. There are positive shifts on many issues.”, Lukashenko said, according to the Belta news agency.
Senior Officials Brief The President
Lukashenko received a report on Thursday covering the outcomes of the negotiation process with the United States.
Several senior Belarusian officials took part in the briefing. They included Prime Minister Alexander Turchin, Prosecutor General Dmitry Gora, and KGB chief Ivan Tertel.
Foreign Minister Maxim Ryzhenkov and Belarus’s permanent representative to the United Nations, Valentin Rybakov, also joined the meeting.
The update suggests Minsk is keeping close tabs on its diplomatic channel with Washington as talks continue to unfold.
