The chief of Pakistan’s Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F), Maulana Fazlur Rehman, slammed the Pakistani Army on Friday (October 31, 2025). The Pashtun cleric issued a strong warning regarding Field Marshal Asim Munir’s military stance on Afghanistan. He declared that Pakistan cannot afford to suffer through another self-created war.

He stated, “Do not forget the 1971 Bangladesh and 1999 Kargil wars.” “These were prime examples of the reckless military operations by the Pakistan Army.” Former President and military chief Pervez Musharraf and others led these disastrous campaigns. They severely damaged the nation’s global credibility.

Rehman Urges PAK Army to Focus on Real Issues

Pashtun Maulana Fazlur Rehman advised the Pakistan Army to address genuine problems. These problems include tackling terrorism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. They must also focus on the economic crisis and governance stability. The army should stop engaging in needless fights along the border. He strongly criticized the army’s tendency to instill fear among the public. He called this practice entirely wrong.

He noted that Islam opposes unjust aggression against any Muslim neighbor. He indirectly labeled the Pakistani Army’s approach towards Afghanistan as non-Islamic. He further called it politically self-destructive.

Reports suggest that this statement by Pashtun Maulana Fazlur Rehman could strategically benefit India. Indian intelligence agencies view this as part of a broader psychological response by the Afghan Taliban. The voices of religious leaders like Fazlur Rehman will undermine Pakistan’s internal war narrative.

Maulana Desires to Visit India

Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the JUI-F chief, wishes to travel to India. He describes this intent as carrying a message of peace in his own words. His close associate, Member of Parliament Kamran Murtaza, revealed this during a TV interview. Murtaza claimed he personally conveyed Maulana Rehman’s peace message to an Indian diplomat.
