Trump makes his stance clear on Truth Social

US President Donald Trump stated on Sunday that he would like Russia to keep offering minimal help to Iran going forward. He shared his view publicly on his Truth Social platform.

Trump had earlier welcomed Moscow’s role in helping calm the standoff involving Iran. Yuri Ushakov, aide to Russian President Vladimir Putin, mentioned this to reporters earlier in October. He spoke after a phone call between the Russian and US leaders.

What Trump actually wrote

In his post, Trump stated:

“Russia is doing very little, if anything at all, to help the Islamic Republic of Iran, compared to what they could be doing, and I want to keep it that way.”

He added that he plans to keep pushing for this outcome, “unless stupid people get in the way.”

Iran thanks Putin for his willingness to help

Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Gharibabadi earlier said Tehran appreciates President Putin’s readiness to assist in resolving the conflict between Iran and Washington. His comment reflects a broader diplomatic effort involving Moscow as a possible mediator.

Just days before this statement, on October 16, Trump ruled out sending US troops into Iran, signaling his preference for diplomatic over military solutions in handling the standoff.
