India’s rapid rise as one of the world’s leading economies under Prime Minister Narendra Modi has drawn praise from Moscow as Russia’s presidential spokesman highlighted the strong partnership between the two nations.

Russia Hails India’s Economic Rise Under Modi
India under Prime Minister Narendra Modi has firmly established itself as one of the world’s top economic powers. That is the assessment of Dmitry Peskov, the official spokesman for Russian President Vladimir Putin. Speaking to journalists on June 10, 2026, Peskov praised India’s remarkable growth trajectory while also underlining the depth of Moscow-New Delhi ties.
“A country that has become one of the world’s leading economic powers with the fastest rates of economic growth and development. And, most importantly for us, a country with which we share a partnership, and with which our trade and economic ties are growing across all possible areas,” said Peskov.
Moscow and New Delhi : A Partnership Built on Mutual Interest
The Kremlin’s remarks reflect a broader pattern of warming ties between Russia and India. Both countries have steadily expanded their bilateral trade particularly in energy, defense, and technology. Peskov’s comments signal that Moscow views India not just as a trading partner but as a strategic ally in a shifting global order.
India’s economy has surged in recent years under Modi’s leadership making it one of the fastest-growing major economies on earth. Russia has repeatedly acknowledged this transformation and sees New Delhi as a key partner in building an alternative to Western-dominated trade networks.
