Iran and the United States continue exchanging messages. Tehran is currently studying American proposals for resuming negotiations, Iranian foreign ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei announced.

Messages Still Flow Between Tehran And Washington

Baghaei shared the update during his weekly press briefing. He confirmed that diplomatic contact between the two nations has not stopped.

“The exchange of messages between Iran and the United States continues,” Baghaei said. He explained that both sides had discussed a plan on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York. That plan came to be known as “Iran’s seven day project.” According to Baghaei, it reflected Iran’s lawful demands. The talks covered lifting the naval blockade, removing sanctions on Iran, and unfreezing Iranian assets held abroad.

Iran Reviewing US Proposals For New Talks

Baghaei added that Tehran is currently going through proposals from the American side. These proposals aim to restart the broader negotiation process.

He stressed that Iran’s preconditions must be factored in before any fresh round of talks begins. Negotiators cannot simply set these conditions aside, he noted.

Iran’s Negotiating Stance Remains Firm

Baghaei also made clear that Iran’s overall position on talks with Washington has not shifted. The surrounding circumstances remain the same as before, he said.

Tehran sees no reason to “show flexibility” over its rights during negotiations with Washington, Baghaei explained. Iran intends to hold its ground throughout the process.

Background: Unresolved Conflict Since February

The United States and Israel launched strikes on targets inside Iran on February 28. Iran responded with its own strikes soon after.

In mid-June, Tehran and Washington signed a memorandum to halt hostilities. Fresh strikes were exchanged between the two sides later on. The broader conflict between Iran and the US remains unresolved today.
