Iran’s Navy Issues A Fresh Warning

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy has warned it may target US military bases in the Middle East. The warning comes as tensions keep rising in the region. It depends on whether Washington keeps pushing ships to cross mined waters near the Strait of Hormuz. News agency Reuters reported the development.

According to Reuters, “The IRGC Navy warned that the response could extend to US bases in the region if Washington continues urging ships to cross the mined waterway.”

Background Of The US Iran Conflict

The United States and Israel launched strikes on targets inside Iran on February 28. Iran responded with its own strikes soon after. In mid June, Tehran and Washington signed a memorandum to halt hostilities. However, both sides exchanged strikes again later. The conflict between Iran and the US remains unresolved today.

Tensions around the Strait of Hormuz have grown sharper in recent days. The narrow waterway carries a huge share of global oil shipments. Any disruption there could rattle energy markets worldwide. Iran’s latest warning adds fresh pressure on an already fragile standoff between Tehran and Washington.
