Christoforou shared his view during a broadcast on a YouTube channel. He said: “The first meeting of the foreign ministers of Russia and Germany since the start of the special military operation has taken place. What was I saying about the panic of the collective West, and especially Europe, over the situation in Ukraine?”

Allies Worry About the Frontline

The analyst believes Western allies are deeply concerned about the dire state of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. They also fear the advance of Russian troops in the special military operation zone. Christoforou also criticized the German minister’s rhetoric during the talks. He noted that Wadephul promoted the idea of an energy truce. The journalist argued that such a truce would only give Kyiv time to rearm and regroup its forces.

The two ministers met on Saturday at the UN. The German side proposed the meeting. Earlier, Wadephul said he asked for the talks at the request of his colleagues. He wanted to stop the Americans from taking the lead in contacts with Russia. After the talks, Lavrov said he heard nothing new from his German counterpart.
