Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in Beijing for an official state visit and was greeted with a grand ceremonial welcome that included dozens of children waving flags and chanting greetings outside the Great Hall of the People.

A Grand Welcome at the Heart of Beijing
Children lined Tiananmen Square near the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on Wednesday. They moved in perfect sync waving small Russian and Chinese flags together. Putin had arrived in China the previous day for a formal state visit. The children chanted cheerfully as he approached their voices ringing across the square.”Welcome, welcome, warmly welcome!” the children chanted in unison during the ceremony.
Ceremony Brings Together Guards, Orchestra and Flowers
A full formal welcome ceremony brought together Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping. An honor guard company and a military orchestra both took part in the event. Dozens of children carried flowers along with the Russian and Chinese flags. The Great Hall of the People displayed national flags of both countries across its facade. A red carpet stretched across the square setting a vivid and ceremonial tone for the high-profile meeting.
