President Vladimir Putin confirmed Russia’s support for a two-state solution to settle the Palestinian question, speaking at the Russia-Africa summit held in Moscow this week.

Putin Reaffirms Russia’s Stand on Palestinian Statehood
Russian President Vladimir Putin addressed the ongoing Israel-Palestine conflict on October 29. He spoke during the plenary session of the Russia-Africa summit in Moscow. Putin confirmed that Russia remains committed to a two-state solution. He called it the only realistic path to end the long-running Palestinian question.
In his own words, Putin said: “Russia supports and believes that the final settlement of the Palestinian question can only be achieved through the well-known principle of creating two states, including a full-fledged state on Palestinian territory, the State of Palestine.”
This statement reflects Moscow’s long-standing position. Russia has consistently called for a two-state solution at various international forums. The two-state solution remains central to Russian diplomacy on this issue.
Gaza Ceasefire Holds, But Strikes Continue
A ceasefire has been in place in the Gaza Strip since October 2025. However, the Israeli military continues launching strikes on Palestinian territory. Israeli officials say these strikes target Hamas facilities and fighters. The fragile truce has not fully stopped the violence on the ground.
Humanitarian Crisis Deepens in Gaza
The United Nations describes the humanitarian situation in Gaza as severe. Widespread destruction has damaged homes, roads, and infrastructure across the strip. Medical facilities face constant disruptions and shortages. Residents continue struggling to access food and basic necessities. Experts warn the crisis could worsen without sustained international support, even as calls grow louder for a lasting two-state solution.
Russia-Africa Summit Hosts the Statement
Putin made these remarks during the third Russia-Africa summit. The event also doubled as an economic and humanitarian forum. It took place in Moscow on October 28 and 29. Leaders and delegates from across Africa attended the gathering. The summit covered trade, security, and global diplomatic issues, including the Middle East crisis.
