Britain’s maritime trade watchdog has reported a vessel fire in the Strait of Hormuz near Oman. The cause remains unknown and no damage reports have surfaced yet.

Fire Reported On Vessel Near Omani Coast
The UK Maritime Trade Operations agency, known as UKMTO, has announced that a ship caught fire while sailing through the Strait of Hormuz. The vessel was located close to the coast of Oman when the incident happened.
According to the agency, the fire broke out roughly 25 nautical miles northeast of the city of Khasab. This narrow waterway remains one of the world’s busiest shipping routes for oil tankers and cargo vessels.
UKMTO shared a statement describing what it had learned from an outside source. The agency quoted the report directly:
“According to information from a third-party source, a fire broke out on a ship traveling in the direction of leaving the strait; The cause of the fire was unknown at the time the report was received.”
No Word Yet On Damage Or Crew Safety
Officials at UKMTO noted that there is currently no information about damage caused by the blaze. They also said nothing is known yet about any environmental impact from the fire.
The condition and safety of the crew members aboard the ship also remains unclear at this stage. Authorities have not released further updates since the fire was first reported.
The Strait of Hormuz has seen heightened attention in recent days. Just two days earlier, on October 28, the US military stated that thousands of commercial vessels had safely passed through the strait, underlining how heavily trafficked the corridor remains despite ongoing tensions in the region.
