Trump’s Claim Sparks Moscow’s Response

President Donald Trump claimed on Wednesday, October 15, that India would stop buying oil from Russia. This assertion quickly drew a reaction from Moscow. Russian Ambassador to India, Denis Alipov, commented on the situation. He stressed the necessity of Russian oil for the Indian economy. Ambassador Alipov also called India a trustworthy Russian partner. Trump had previously imposed a 50 percent tariff on India out of displeasure. He clearly opposes India’s oil purchases from Russia.

Russia Affirms Strategic Energy Ties

Ambassador Alipov stated, “One-third of India’s total crude oil imports comes from Russia.” He added, “We have been an affordable option for India.” He emphasized the strategic nature of the bond. “The Russia-India strategic partnership brings stability to the world,” he asserted. “This entire relationship is founded on trust.” He concluded, “We are a key trading partner. We are India’s most dependable partner in the energy sector.”

Russia’s Stiff Message to Trump

Russia sent a firm message aimed at Donald Trump. The Russian Ambassador stated, “The Global North continues to impose tariffs and various restrictions.” He indicated this shows their reluctance to accept a multipolar world. “It will delay reforms in the global governance system,” he said. “These specific reforms are absolutely necessary.”

India’s Stance on Oil Imports

India’s Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson, Randhir Jaiswal, reacted to Trump’s claims. He said, “India is a major importer of oil and gas.” He continued, “Protecting Indian consumers’ interests remains our priority.” This is especially true in an unstable energy environment. He affirmed India makes decisions keeping its people’s welfare in mind.

Trump is reportedly upset with both India and China. China and the US are already engaged in a tariff conflict. Trump had levied tariffs on China. China retaliated with its own action. Similarly, Trump had applied a 50 percent tariff on India.
