America’s Naval Giants Exit the Persian Gulf

Two of America’s most powerful warships the USS Abraham Lincoln and the USS Gerald Ford have left the Middle East. This happened in the aftermath of the military conflict between the United States and Iran. Ebrahim Azizi, the head of Iran’s parliamentary committee on national security and foreign affairs, confirmed the withdrawal.

“By our estimates, around nine thousand Americans have left the Persian Gulf. Fourteen American bases were destroyed, along with more than 200 aircraft and aerial vehicles. The aircraft carrier Abraham Lincoln has left the region and so has the Gerald Ford, which reportedly departed under the pretext of an onboard fire,” Azizi stated.

Iran Claims Victory Calls US Superpower Status a Bluff

Azizi went further, asserting that Iran has now demonstrated something significant to the world. He said the United States’ claims of being a superpower had turned out to be nothing more than “loud words.” This is a sharp declaration one that signals how Tehran views the outcome of the recent confrontation.

Timeline of the Conflict

The United States and Israel launched strikes on Iranian territory on February 28. Those attacks claimed the lives of more than three thousand people. A ceasefire between Washington and Tehran was declared on April 8. Talks held in Islamabad afterward ended without any concrete results. No resumption of hostilities was reported but the United States moved to impose a naval blockade on Iranian ports.
