Russian President Vladimir Putin gave a serious warning to Europe on Tuesday (December 2, 2025). This was just before peace talks with the US on the Ukraine conflict. Putin declared that Russia is fully prepared if Europe chooses to engage in war. He accused European leaders of trying to sabotage a potential agreement. This agreement was set for discussion with a US delegation meeting the Russian President.

Putin’s statement came as US envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, President Donald Trump’s son-in-law, were in Moscow. They were holding high-level talks to end the nearly four-year-long conflict. Serious diplomatic efforts had paved the way for these discussions over several preceding days.

What Vladimir Putin Said About Europe?

Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke to reporters, clarifying his stance. “We are not planning to wage war with Europe,” he stated clearly. However, he added, “But if Europe wants war and starts it, then we are also completely ready.” He repeated his claim that European leaders are obstructing US efforts for peace in Ukraine. He asserted, “They have no agenda for peace; they are in favor of war.”

Vladimir Putin also made a specific point regarding the peace plan. “The changes made by Europe in Trump’s new plan to end the war,” he said, “have only one goal: to stop the whole peace process and put forward demands for Russia that are completely unacceptable to it.”

Trump’s Support for the Peace Plan

Washington had introduced a 28-point draft to end the four-year-old Ukraine conflict. This draft was later modified after receiving criticism from Kyiv and European nations. They felt the proposal seemed to concede to most of Russia’s demands. US President Trump supports this plan to end the Ukraine war. However, European countries fear it could force Kyiv to submit to Russia’s demands.
