The Central Government is rolling out a new and simplified GST registration system starting November 1. Under this new process, fresh applicants will receive approval within only three working days.

The Central Government will launch a new, simpler GST registration system on November 1, 2025. New applicants will now get approval within just three working days. The GST Council approved this major reform. This decision comes as part of ongoing GST reforms brought by the government.
This change makes the registration process easier than before. It will also reduce human intervention significantly. The new system provides automatic registration to two types of applicants. The first category includes those selected by the system. This selection is based on data and risk analysis. The second category covers those whose monthly output tax liability is below ₹2.5 lakh.
Finance Minister’s Viewpoint
- Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said this new process will directly benefit about 96 percent of new applicants. The Finance Minister spoke after inaugurating the new CGST building in Ghaziabad. She mentioned the government’s focus is shifting now. It is moving from policy-making to proper local-level policy execution.
The Finance Minister also asked state and central GST units to work according to the new policies. They must implement the new rules without any confusion. She also stated that the administration should respect taxpayers. However, they must take strong action against tax evasion.
- Furthermore, the Finance Minister informed about simplified income tax return filing. Automated refund and risk-based audit systems have been introduced for this purpose. She stressed having enough staff at all GST Seva Kendras across the nation. This ensures ordinary citizens can easily solve their GST-related issues.
