Models like the Tiago will become cheaper by as much as ₹75,000, while flagship SUVs Harrier and Safari will see price drops of ₹1.40 lakh and ₹1.45 lakh respectively.

Tata Motors on Friday declared a major price reduction across its passenger vehicle lineup, announcing cuts of up to ₹1.45 lakh effective September 22. The decision, aimed at boosting customer sentiment ahead of the festive season, follows the recent announcement by the GST Council earlier this week, which lowered tax rates on several categories of goods, including automobiles.
The Mumbai-headquartered carmaker confirmed that the entire benefit of the revised GST structure for cars and SUVs would be directly transferred to buyers. The updated prices will come into effect on September 22, coinciding with the implementation of the new GST slabs. Among the models, the Tiago will become cheaper by up to ₹75,000, while the flagship Safari will see the steepest cut, going down by as much as ₹1.45 lakh.
According to the revised structure, customers will also see reductions of ₹80,000 on the Tigor and ₹1.10 lakh on the Altroz. The Punch will be cheaper by nearly ₹85,000, the Nexon by as much as ₹1.55 lakh, and the Curvv will see a price drop of up to ₹65,000. Meanwhile, the Harrier will witness a reduction of up to ₹1.40 lakh, alongside the Safari’s ₹1.45 lakh cut, making Tata’s premium SUV lineup significantly more affordable.
The price revision comes in the wake of the GST Council’s decision to rationalize tax slabs, bringing most passenger vehicles under either 5 percent or 18 percent from September 22, which also marks the beginning of Navaratri. Under the new regime, petrol, LPG, and CNG-powered vehicles with engine capacities under 1,200 cc and length up to 4,000 mm, along with diesel vehicles up to 1,500 cc and not exceeding 4,000 mm, will now fall into the 18 percent GST bracket.
Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd, expressed optimism about the reform while announcing the update. He said, “The reduction in GST on passenger vehicles, effective 22nd September 2025, is a progressive and timely decision that will make personal mobility more accessible for millions across India.”
Highlighting the broader impact, he further added, “This will make our popular range of cars and SUVs even more accessible across segments, enabling first-time buyers and accelerating the shift towards new age mobility for a wider spectrum of customers.”
