Market Speculation and HAL’s Response

The recent Tejas aircraft crash at the Dubai Air Show sparked many rumors. People worried about the future of the jet and HAL’s production capacity. Doubts also arose regarding export potential. However, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has cleared the air. They stated this is just an isolated incident. It will not hurt the company’s business operations. Financial performance and delivery schedules remain safe. HAL shared this update through a letter to BSE and NSE.

Importance and Deployment of Tejas

HAL developed the LCA-Tejas with help from DRDO. The Indian Air Force inducted it in 2016. Currently, the Air Force operates two Tejas squadrons. One is at the Sulur Airbase in Tamil Nadu. The other guards a forward airbase near the Pakistan border. Tejas also played a key role in airspace patrolling during Operation Sindoor.

Details of the Tragic Incident

The Tejas aircraft crash occurred on November 21 during the Dubai Air Show. Wing Commander Namansh Syal was flying the jet. Sadly, he lost his life in this accident. The Indian Air Force has acted quickly. They formed a high-level committee to find the cause.

Production and Export Assurance

The crash raised worries about the advanced version and exports. HAL is making LCA Tejas Mark-1A for the Air Force. They also plan to sell it to friendly nations. HAL clarified that the Tejas aircraft crash won’t stop production or supply. Future plans remain on track. The company is fully helping with the investigation.

Tejas Mark-1A Updates and Engine Supply

Last month, the Tejas Mark-1A successfully flew in Nashik. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh was present there. The Ministry signed a deal for 83 jets with HAL in 2021. However, engine supplies faced delays. Only 4 GE F-404 engines have arrived so far. This delay happened due to US relations and formalities.

Future Deals and Deliveries

In September 2024, the Ministry signed a deal for 97 more jets. The Air Force expects 180 Tejas Mark-1A jets in the coming decade. To support this, HAL signed a new deal this month. They ordered 113 more F-404 engines from GE-Aerospace.
