Legendary Actor Dharmendra Passes Away at 89 Following Long Illness

Veteran actor Dharmendra has passed away, leaving the industry in deep grief. He had been battling illness for a long time.

Bollywood Loses Its He-Man

Bollywood’s legendary actor Dharmendra has passed away. He was 89 years old. A wave of grief has swept the country after the death of the famous ‘He-Man’. Dharmendra had been sick for a long time. He was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai for some days. Later, doctors sent him home. He was receiving treatment from his residence. According to IANS news, Dharmendra has died. His funeral will take place at the Pawan Hans Crematorium. His full name is Dharmendra Kewal Krishan Deol. He was born on December 8, 1935, in Nasrali village, Punjab.

Breathing Difficulties Led to Hospitalization

Staff admitted Dharmendra to Breach Candy Hospital for a regular checkup on October 31, 2025. He was facing trouble breathing. His condition turned serious on November 10. His entire family rushed to the hospital to see him. Hema Malini, Sunny Deol, Esha Deol, Karan Deol, Rajveer Deol, and Abhay Deol all arrived there.

Many stars visited the hospital to meet Dharmendra. Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Govinda, and Ameesha Patel went to see him.

A Glorious 65-Year Career

He started his acting journey in 1960. He first appeared in the film “Dil Bhi Tera Hum Bhi Tere”. Later, he played a supporting role in the 1961 film “Boy Friend”. Dharmendra remained active in acting for 65 years. He gave many hits, superhits, and blockbusters. He starred in films like Sholay (1975), Chupke Chupke (1975), and Seeta Aur Geeta (1972). He also did Dharam Veer (1977), Phool Aur Patthar (1966), Jugnu (1973), and Yaadon Ki Baaraat (1973).

The Famous On-Screen Kiss

His character in the 2023 film Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani created a lot of buzz. He kissed Shabana Azmi in this movie, which made headlines. Apart from this, he appeared in Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya. This film was released in 2024.

Dharmendra’s Final Film

Dharmendra was working continuously even at the age of 89. His last film will release this year after his death. He will appear in the movie Ikkis. In this film, he plays the role of Agastya Nanda’s father. This movie will hit theaters on December 25, 2025.

Dharmendra’s Personal Life

Talking about his personal life, Dharmendra married twice. His first marriage was to Prakash Kaur. He has four children from this marriage: Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Vijeeta Deol, and Ajeeta Deol. His second marriage was with actress Hema Malini. Prakash did not divorce him, so Dharmendra changed his religion to marry again. He has two daughters with Hema Malini: Esha Deol and Ahana Deol.
