Pollution hotspots like Wazirpur report hazardous readings over 450, while the entire NCR struggles with toxic smog.

Winter smog has tightened its grip, keeping Delhi air quality in a critical state today. By 7 am Sunday, the capital’s overall Air Quality Index (AQI) stood near 430. This places the city firmly in the “severe” pollution category.
High Pollution Zones
Specific areas in the city are struggling with incredibly hazardous air conditions right now. Live data shows Wazirpur and Bawana as major pollution hotspots with alarming numbers. Sunday morning readings showed Wazirpur crossing an AQI of 450, while Bawana hit 435.
Status of Other Areas
Jahangirpuri recorded a choking AQI of 438 at 7:15 am, remaining in the ‘severe’ zone. Anand Vihar reported 427, and Ashok Vihar recorded 421, showing widespread danger. These figures highlight how many pockets of the capital represent a massive health risk.
Situation in NCR
The wider NCR belt showed very little relief from the bad air. Noida stayed dangerously close to the ‘severe’ mark with an AQI of 390. Meanwhile, Greater Noida recorded 380, placing it in the ‘very poor’ category.
Ghaziabad Updates
Ghaziabad faced some of the worst conditions in the region on Sunday. It logged a severe AQI of 426, extending the toxic smog blanket outside the capital. Such high levels show concentrated particulate matter and poor visibility, risking the health of outdoor commuters.
Government Action Plan
Authorities are maintaining Stage 3 restrictions of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) for now. The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) advises strict rules for this phase. This includes 50% on-site staffing for private offices, while the rest must work remotely.
