National capital’s pollution levels remain dangerously high. Over 150 flights face delays at Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport. Narela recorded the highest Air Quality Index (AQI) of 418, marking ‘severe’ pollution.

The persistent smog continues to blanket Delhi. The national capital’s air quality index (AQI) stayed in the ‘very poor’ category on Monday morning. The average AQI for Delhi was recorded at 366 at 7:05 AM. This information comes from the Sameer app data. Several city locations saw pollution enter the ‘severe’ category. The Narela monitoring station recorded an AQI of 418. This was the highest reading reported on Monday.
Severe Pollution Grips Multiple Areas
Areas like Anand Vihar and Bawana also recorded ‘severe’ AQI levels. Jahangirpuri, Mundka, Rohini, and Wazirpur were included in this list. Their readings ranged alarmingly between 401 and 408. Dilshad Garden showed the city’s lowest AQI at 301. It was still officially classified as ‘very poor’. The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) classifies an AQI of 301 to 400 as ‘very poor’. A reading between 401 and 500 is considered ‘severe’.
Flight Disruptions at IGI Airport
Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport issued an advisory. Visibility remained extremely low due to the dense fog. This threatened to disrupt air travel significantly. So far on Monday, more than 150 flights have been delayed. The 7 AM advisory on X stated, “Low visibility procedures are in progress at Delhi airport.” It also assured that “All flight operations continue as normal.” Passengers were asked to contact their respective airlines for updates.
Delhi Weather Outlook
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted moderate fog for Monday. Maximum and minimum temperatures were expected to be around 21°C and 9°C. On Sunday, the minimum temperature was 9.4°C. This was 1.3 degrees above the season’s average. The maximum temperature reached 18.1°C that day.
