Putin’s two-day visit puts the national capital on high alert. Elite SWAT teams and heavy security forces are now deployed across Delhi.

Heightened Security for Russian President
The highly-anticipated visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin begins soon. He is expected to arrive in India by Thursday evening. Delhi has been placed under a high-security alert for this two-day visit.
Key Meetings on the Agenda
During his trip, Putin will meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. A private dinner will take place at the PM’s official residence. Both leaders will also participate in the 23rd India-Russia annual strategic summit.
Massive Deployment and Vigilance
The national capital remains on high alert ahead of Putin’s arrival. SWAT teams and significant security forces are heavily deployed. Senior police officers confirmed minute-to-minute tracking. Multiple security units will monitor every movement until his departure.
“Minute-to-minute coordination is underway, and all concerned agencies have been instructed to maintain maximum vigilance throughout. Over 5,000 police personnel will be deployed to maintain strict vigil,” a police officer told PTI.
Anti-Drone Systems and Route Protection
Delhi Police officials are also monitoring route security and traffic. “All routes mapped for VVIP movement have been secured in advance,” an official informed the news agency. Traffic advisories will be issued to minimize inconvenience for commuters. Anti-drone systems will also be actively put in place. A multi-layered security grid is now fully operational. It includes SWAT teams, anti-terror units, snipers, and quick-reaction teams. These forces are stationed at all sensitive points.

Upon reaching Delhi, PM Modi will host President Putin for a private dinner. The Russian President is also scheduled to meet President Droupadi Murmu. Discussions will likely cover trade and economic cooperation. They will also focus on “promising projects.” These include industrial cooperation and innovative technologies.
