Himachal relief package announced by PM Modi includes housing support under PM Awas Yojana, highway restoration, and targeted farmer assistance.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday pledged ₹1,500 crore in financial aid for Himachal Pradesh after devastating floods left the hill state struggling. During his visit, he urged authorities to take a comprehensive approach to help people and infrastructure recover fully, officials confirmed.
The relief package will cover rebuilding homes under the PM Awas Yojana, restoring national highways, repairing schools, and providing aid through the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund. Special livestock kits will also be distributed.
Officials said extra assistance will go to farmers without power connections, recognising the urgent need to protect agriculture in the region.
Rebuilding Homes and Schools
As part of the plan, damaged houses will be geotagged for accurate assessment and quicker delivery of help under the PM Awas Yojana. Schools can also report and geotag damages, enabling fast-track support through the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan to ensure education continues without interruption.
Focus on Water and Farming
Recharge structures for rainwater harvesting will be built to improve groundwater storage and strengthen water management. This move, officials explained, will help farming communities hit hard by the disaster.
Central Teams Already on Ground
Earlier, the Modi government sent inter-ministerial central teams to survey the extent of damage. Based on their report, further assistance will be finalised, officials added.
PM Modi is also set to visit Punjab, where a similar relief announcement is expected.
