Weather conditions across southern India are turning increasingly favourable the Southwest Monsoon could make its grand entry into Kerala as early as June 4, bringing heavy rain and thunderstorms.

Monsoon Inching Closer to Kerala’s Shores
The India Meteorological Department IMD announced that weather conditions are rapidly turning favourable for the arrival of the Southwest Monsoon over southern India. The monsoon is likely to set in over Kerala around June 4, the department confirmed.

Widespread Rain, Storms and Gusty Winds on the Way
Once the monsoon sweeps in, Kerala can expect widespread light to moderate rainfall across the state. Thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds will accompany the onset residents should stay prepared.
Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal Also in the Monsoon’s Path
The IMD also noted that conditions are ripe for the monsoon to advance further into parts of the Arabian Sea, the Lakshadweep Islands and Tamil Nadu. Additional areas of the Bay of Bengal are also expected to come under its influence very soon.
