Stalin Slams Center’s Archaeological Priorities

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK President MK Stalin spoke on Sunday. He criticized the BJP-led Union government forcefully. Stalin accused them of seeking an “imaginary Saraswathi river civilization.” They ignore scientific evidence published by the state. This evidence comes from archaeological excavations since 2021. Stalin called this a Tamil struggle spanning 2,000 years.

Allegations of Suppressing Findings

Stalin is intensifying his campaign before the 2026 election. He accuses the BJP of blocking the release of Tamil history studies. He claims the Central government acts against its citizens’ welfare and interests.

Invitation to Union Ministers

The Chief Minister invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. He urged them to visit the Porunai Museum. This museum was inaugurated by him a day earlier. It displays artifacts from Adichanallur, Sivagalai, and Korkai. These sites are in the present-day Tirunelveli district.

The Fight for Antiquity

Stalin clearly stated the opposition’s motive in Tirunelveli. “Their intent is clear,” he said. “No research proving the antiquity of Tamils should take place.” Findings should never be made public, he added. “Those searching for an imaginary Saraswati river civilization refuse to see the evidence.” “We have placed it right in front of their eyes.” “This is a struggle of more than 2,000 years.” “We will not lose this fight,” he affirmed. “We will continue to present evidence.”

Museums Showcase Tamil Pride

He established the Porunai Museum to share this Tamil history. It covers 54,296 square feet. The project cost ₹33 crore. This follows the success of the Keeladi museum. The Keeladi museum was established in Sivagangai district in 2023. He again invited the PM and the Finance Minister. He asked them to visit both museums in Tamil Nadu. “Only if you come and see,” Stalin said, “will you understand how ancient Tamil civilization truly is.”

Sivakalai’s Global Significance

Sivakalai gained global attention in January. The Tamil Nadu State Department of Archaeology (TNSDA) announced findings. Carbon dating showed iron usage dating back 5,300 years. This is the world’s oldest known date for the Iron Age. Earlier, in 2021, Sivakalai made headlines. Rice husks in a burial urn were dated to 3,200 years old. This dating was done by Beta Analytic Lab in the US. This evidence prompted Stalin to make a declaration. He vowed the state would scientifically prove it. India’s history must be rewritten from the Tamil landscape.

Future Protests Announced

The Chief Minister also made another announcement. The DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance (SPA) will protest. They are part of the INDIA bloc. The protest is against renaming MGNREGS with a Hindi title.
