Rae Bareli: Heated Debate Between Rahul Gandhi and Minister Dinesh Pratap Singh

A fierce argument broke out in Rae Bareli between Congress MP Rahul Gandhi and Uttar Pradesh minister Dinesh Pratap Singh, and the video of the incident surfaced on Friday. The confrontation took place during the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) meeting chaired by Rahul Gandhi. Amethi MP KL Sharma also stepped in at times during the heated discussion.
During the meeting, minister Dinesh Pratap Singh sat right next to Rahul Gandhi. The argument began when Rahul said, “I am chairing this meeting. If you want to speak, ask first, and then I will give you the opportunity.” These remarks triggered an angry reaction from Dinesh Pratap Singh, leading to a sharp exchange of words. Singh shot back that while Rahul might be the chair, he was not bound to listen to everything he said, claiming that Rahul himself never listens to the chairperson.
Officials present at the meeting were shocked as the dispute escalated in front of everyone. The clash came during Rahul Gandhi’s two-day visit to Rae Bareli on September 10 and 11, when tensions between the Congress leader and the minister boiled over.
Minister Targets Priyanka Gandhi During the Clash
In the midst of the argument, Dinesh Pratap Singh launched a scathing attack on Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. He remarked, “Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi seek votes on the death of their grandmother and father. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mother is abused, and Priyanka Gandhi bursts into laughter.” Singh went further and compared Priyanka Gandhi to “Shurpanakha,” equating her with a demon.
This was not the minister’s first outburst against Rahul Gandhi. Earlier, during Rahul’s visit to his Rae Bareli constituency, Singh had staged a protest with several BJP workers and supporters at Harchandpur on the Lucknow-Prayagraj highway. He demanded that Rahul apologize for remarks made in Bihar about Prime Minister Modi’s mother.
