Mahagathbandhan’s CM Candidate Tejashwi Yadav Officially Declared Amidst Internal Rifts

Joint Press Conference in Patna
The Mahagathbandhan held a joint press conference in Patna. This happened on Thursday, October 23, 2025. It was held concerning the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections (2025). The event took place at Hotel Maurya.
Key leaders were present at the conference. These included RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav. Congress leader Ashok Gehlot was also present. Bihar Congress chief Rajesh Ram attended. VIP head Mukesh Sahani and CPI-M’s Dipankar Bhattacharya were also there. Leaders from other ally parties joined them.
During this event, Tejashwi Yadav was publicly declared the alliance’s CM face. Ashok Gehlot made this important announcement.
“Will Not Stop Until We Break Them”: Sahani
VIP chief Mukesh Sahani spoke at the conference. He stated millions of workers awaited this moment. He accused the BJP of poaching and buying their MLAs. Sahani emphatically declared, “Jab tak todenge nahi tab tak chhodenge nahi” (Will not stop until we break them). That time is now here, he added. He asserted the Mahagathbandhan is strong. They will form the government with full unity now.
Alliance Candidates Face Off in 13 Seats
Previously, the Mahagathbandhan had not held any joint seat-sharing press conference. There was constant tension regarding this matter. Today’s press meet was the first joint one for the Bihar polls. A major issue is the 13 seats where alliance candidates are fighting each other. This includes candidates from the same alliance.
Tensions exist primarily between the RJD and Congress. Congress senior observer Ashok Gehlot met Lalu and Tejashwi Yadav. He held the meeting last Wednesday to address the conflict.
Poster Row: Only Tejashwi’s Photo
Another controversy surrounds the press conference poster. Only Tejashwi Yadav’s photograph was displayed on the poster. No other senior leader’s picture was visible. Only the symbols of the partner parties were shown.
BJP leader Amit Malviya posted on X about this. He wrote, “The massive infighting within the Grand Alliance has now become public. First, Rahul Gandhi refused to acknowledge Tejashwi as his face, and now Tejashwi has removed Rahul Gandhi from the poster. This poster itself is a declaration of the breakup of the Grand Alliance.”
MP Pappu Yadav also objected to the poster. He questioned the poster’s validity without Rahul Gandhi. He argued all alliance members’ pictures should be there. He said the absence of photos sends the wrong message.
