BCCI Tops ICC Prize, Gifts Indian Women’s World Cup Champions ₹51 Crore!

The BCCI offers a significantly higher cash reward than the ICC. This prize celebrates the women’s team’s historic World Cup win. The team will receive a huge sum.

BCCI Rewards Women’s World Cup Champions

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) declared a cash prize of INR 51 crore for the women’s team. They won their first-ever World Cup title. The team, led by Harmanpreet Kaur, beat South Africa by 52 runs in the final. This exciting summit clash took place at the Dr DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. This historic victory marked their first tournament win. India had earlier missed out in the 2005 and 2017 finals. However, 2025 became their year. The hosts won the eight-team tournament for their home fans.

BCCI Prize Exceeds ICC Winnings

The ₹51 crore reward is more than India’s prize money from the ICC. The global cricket body will award the champions USD 4.48 million. This roughly equals INR 39.78 crore.

Indian Board’s Gesture of Appreciation

BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia confirmed the Indian board’s generous reward to the ANI news agency. The board wants to show deep appreciation for winning this tough tournament like the World Cup.

Saikia stated, “Definitely, we have to thank Jay Shah, who is the chair of ICC, because just one month prior to this tournament, they increased the prize money of the ICC Women’s World Cup. That is, there is an upshot of about 300 per cent of the prize money.”

He then added, “That is for the teams to receive it, but as a wonderful performance today in DY Patil Stadium when they have defeated South Africa to win the championship, BCCI is elated and without touching anything from the ICC’s kitty, BCCI on its own is going to pay as a reward of 51 crores to the Indian team, that amount will go to the players, the selectors as well as the support staff headed by Amol Muzumdar.”

India’s Stellar All-Round Performance

India completely outplayed South Africa in all three departments during the final. This all-round dominance secured their maiden World Cup title.

The Proteas won the toss and chose to bowl first. India managed to post 298 runs on the board. Shafali Verma’s outstanding 87-run knock was the highlight. South Africa captain Laura Wolvaardt hit a valiant century. But her effort was wasted as Deepti Sharma grabbed five wickets. This helped set up India’s 52-run victory. Shafali also took two wickets. Her brilliant all-round effort earned her the Player of the Match award.
