Apple is reportedly preparing to roll out at least five brand-new iPhone models between the second half of 2026 and the first half of 2027. The lineup will include the company’s very first foldable smartphone, according to sources cited by Nikkei Asia.

Apple is preparing a major iPhone push. The tech giant plans to launch at least five new iPhone models over the next year. This wave covers the second half of 2026 and the first half of 2027. One of those models will be Apple’s first-ever foldable iPhone. Nikkei Asia broke the story, citing people familiar with the matter.
A representative from one of Apple’s key suppliers spoke to the publication. “Demand for the iPhone 17 series in markets is still fairly strong. But we were told to deliberately reserve common chips and components for the iPhone 18 series,” the source said.
According to the report, Apple is moving fast on its premium lineup. The company is targeting the launch of the iPhone Pro and iPhone Pro Max in the latter half of 2026. The foldable iPhone will also arrive during this period. Then, in the first half of 2027, Apple plans to debut at least two more devices — a standard iPhone 18 and a redesigned iPhone Air.
Apple is also considering refreshing its more affordable iPhone lineup. However, no launch dates or production start times for those budget-friendly models have been confirmed yet.
Sources speaking to Nikkei Asia revealed that Apple has already told its suppliers to gear up. The company wants them ready to manufacture roughly 10 million foldable iPhones in 2026. That target is already higher than earlier projections, which had placed the figure at just 7 to 8 million units. When you factor in all existing and upcoming models, Apple’s total iPhone production for the 2026 calendar year is expected to exceed 220 million devices.
