A cleric in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province faces arrest. He was detained for openly speaking against the Pakistani Army. He also declared his support for India. Maulvi Gulzar, from the Mardan district, made the controversial remarks.

Open Criticism of Army and Intelligence

Maulvi Gulzar stated, “Hindus have not kept us with as much cruelty as Pakistani soldiers have kept us in jail.” He further declared, “If India attacks Pakistan, we will support India.” Local reports confirm Pakistani intelligence agencies detained him. This followed his strong criticism of the army and intelligence departments in a public meeting.

He claimed that all jailed Ulema took an oath on the Quran. This oath was to support India if it launched an attack on Pakistan. He also asserted, “The Pakistani Army has behaved with Muslims and madrasa students with more cruelty than any Hindu or Indian soldier ever did.” He added, “The Indian Army is better than the Pakistani Army.”

Growing Discontent and Eroding Trust

This incident exposes the rising dissatisfaction within Pakistan’s tribal and border areas. The state’s control has been weak in these regions for a long time. Organizations like TTP (Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan) dominate Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and nearby territories. They have turned many areas into no-go zones for the military.

Analysts See a Major Signal

Analysts view Maulvi Gulzar’s statement as a major indicator. It shows the decline in the military’s credibility. It also highlights the growing anger among the common public. A religious leader openly supporting India signals two things. It suggests the weakening of Pakistan’s national unity and the military’s grip. This event highlights Pakistan’s internal cracks. It also exposes the limits of its security framework. This could become a major threat to the country’s stability.
