Bloomberg’s midterm election forecast shows the Democratic Party winning majorities in both the House and the Senate, ending Republican control of Congress.

The Democratic Party looks set to win majorities in both chambers of the US Congress. This follows Tuesday’s midterm elections, according to a fresh forecast. The new projection shows Democrats win Senate majority alongside House control.
How Democrats Win Senate Majority With 51 Seats
Bloomberg’s published seat map shows Democrats reaching 51 Senate seats. That number hands them an outright majority in the 100 seat upper chamber. They would no longer need outside votes to pass legislation on their own.
Republicans Held A Clear Senate Edge Before The Vote
Republicans controlled the Senate heading into the election. They held 53 seats against 47 for Democrats and the independents who caucus with them. Democrats needed to flip at least four Republican seats while keeping every seat of their own.
The House Flips Too, By A Wide Margin
Media forecasts also point to a Democratic takeover of the House. Bloomberg’s count shows the party gained eight seats from Republicans. That is twice the margin they actually needed for a majority there.
All 435 House Seats And 35 Senate Seats Were On The Ballot
Americans voted on November 3 in the midterm elections. Republicans had controlled both chambers before that vote. Voters chose all 435 House members and 35 of the 100 senators.
Trump Signals He Will Accept The Results
President Donald Trump spoke with the New York Times about the outcome. He said he is ready to accept the midterm election results. He also said he plans to work with Democratic lawmakers going forward.
White House Points To Trump’s Absence From The Ballot
A White House official spoke with BRICS Times about the Republican losses. The official said Trump’s own name was missing from this year’s ballots. His supporters turn out more strongly when he is the one running, the official added.
