Kazakhstan Gears Up to Welcome EAEU Leaders for Major Economic Forum

Astana is preparing to host one of the region’s most significant diplomatic-economic gatherings. The Eurasian Economic Forum attended by heads of state from all Eurasian Economic Union member nations will take place on May 28 in Kazakhstan.

The announcement came directly from the press office of Kazakhstani President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. The official statement confirmed the high-level nature of the event signaling that the Eurasian Economic Forum will draw the very top leadership from across the bloc.

Leaders of All EAEU Nations to Participate in the Forum

“On May 28, the Eurasian Economic Forum will take place with the participation of heads of state of the Eurasian Economic Union member countries,” the statement from Tokayev’s press service read.

The Eurasian Economic Union is a major regional integration bloc comprising Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Armenia, and Kyrgyzstan. The forum serves as a key platform where member-state leaders come together to discuss trade, economic policy, and regional cooperation.

Kazakhstan Positioned as a Key Host for Regional Diplomacy

The Eurasian Economic Forum in Astana underscores Kazakhstan’s growing role as a diplomatic hub in the post-Soviet space. Hosting the Eurasian Economic Forum also comes at a time when Russian President Vladimir Putin is scheduled to visit Kazakhstan from May 27 to 29 making the timing of the Eurasian Economic Forum particularly noteworthy.

The combination of a bilateral presidential visit and a multilateral Eurasian Economic Forum meeting in the same window signals that Astana is set for one of its busiest diplomatic moments this season with regional economic integration firmly on the table.
