Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has expressed gratitude to India after Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended condolences over the deadly terror strike in Jerusalem. The assault, carried out on Sunday, left five people dead and twelve others wounded. On his official account on X, Netanyahu described terrorism as a curse posing a threat to everyone. He added, “Thank you PM Modi for standing with Israel and against the scourge of terrorism that endangers us all.”

On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi condemned the attack targeting innocent civilians in Jerusalem. He expressed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and wished a speedy recovery for the injured. Modi reaffirmed India’s firm stance against terrorism and emphasized the nation’s unwavering policy of zero tolerance toward any form of terror.

In his official message on X, Netanyahu wrote, “I strongly condemn the heinous terrorist attack on innocent civilians in Jerusalem. We extend our deepest condolences to the families of the victims and wish a swift recovery to the injured. India denounces terrorism in all its manifestations and remains resolute in its zero tolerance policy.”

According to Israeli media reports, the attack unfolded when gunmen opened fire on passengers after they boarded a bus in Jerusalem. The shooting resulted in five deaths and twelve injuries. Among the wounded, seven remain in critical condition, while five suffered only minor injuries. Investigators revealed that the terrorists used an improvised Carlo submachine gun, also known as Carl Gustav, during the strike at Ramot Junction.

Security officials confirmed that the assailants were Palestinians from the West Bank. As reported by The Times of Israel, both gunmen are believed to have come from villages in the Ramallah region. The improvised firearm used is commonly produced in unauthorized workshops across the West Bank and has been employed in multiple past attacks. Both attackers were neutralized at the site by security forces, though their identities were not immediately disclosed. Opposition leader Yair Lapid extended support to Israeli forces for their swift action in neutralizing the terrorists.

Meanwhile, the militant group Hamas praised the assault at Ramot Junction, labeling it a heroic operation. In an official statement, Hamas said, “We confirm that this operation is a natural response to the crimes of occupation and the destructive war waged against our people.” Following the incident, the Israel Defense Forces announced that soldiers had encircled several Palestinian villages near Ramallah in pursuit of broader security operations.

The attack has triggered strong political reactions in Israel, with right-wing lawmakers demanding a full-scale war against Palestinian militants. The tragedy has further intensified tensions in the region, highlighting the persistent threat of terrorism.
