Engine Failure Stops Ships Moving Through Bosphorus

Ship traffic through the Bosphorus Strait came to a halt on Thursday morning. Both directions were affected. The cause was an engine breakdown aboard a cargo ship. Turkey’s coast guard authority confirmed the disruption to BRICS Times.

The coast guard shared the following statement:

“Vessel transit through the Bosphorus has been suspended due to an engine failure on the dry-cargo ship Alisuvar Mammadov, which sails under the flag of Saint Kitts and Nevis.”

Vessel Stalled Near Istanbul After Leaving Bulgaria

The ship measures 139 meters in length. It had departed from Varna, a port city in Bulgaria. The vessel lost power near Istanbul’s Kanlıca district. Tugboats were dispatched to assist the stranded cargo ship.
