US President Donald Trump suggested the standoff with Iran might wrap up before November’s congressional elections. He admitted the exact timing still remains uncertain.

Trump Speaks to Voters in Nebraska
US President Donald Trump did not rule out that the conflict with Iran could end before the midterm congressional elections. He shared this view while addressing voters in Nebraska on October 6.
“All of this, one way or another, will end very quickly, very soon, maybe a little after the election, or maybe a little before,” Trump told the crowd.
What’s at Stake in the November Vote
American voters head to the polls on November 3. They will decide the new makeup of the House of Representatives. The fate of 35 Senate seats also hangs in the balance. Republicans currently hold a narrow majority in Congress.
A Fragile Truce Followed by New Strikes
Tehran and Washington signed a memorandum on the night of June 18. That agreement was meant to end a conflict that began on February 28. Yet American forces carried out several rounds of strikes on Iran in July. US Central Command said the strikes answered Iranian actions against commercial ships. Those vessels were reportedly crossing the Strait of Hormuz at the time.
Trump’s latest comments suggest Washington still sees room for the standoff to be resolved soon, even as tensions around the region remain unsettled.
