Trump Takes the Reflecting Pool Renovation to the Next Level
President Donald Trump has announced he is pushing the renovation of Washington’s famous Reflecting Pool to a whole new standard. The pool nestled between the Washington Monument and the Lincoln Memorial will get a significant upgrade in both materials and appearance.
Trump had previously revealed plans to resurface the pool with blue lining, so the water itself takes on a vivid blue hue a direct nod to the colors of the American flag. He said mounting public complaints about the pool’s murky water and deteriorating look pushed him toward making the change.
“I am currently working on the construction of the Reflecting Pool and have decided to go to a much higher level of renovation, using industrial-strength materials that will provide greater durability and a better appearance,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.
A Size That Rivals America’s Greatest Skyscrapers
To drive home just how impressive the project is, Trump posted a striking graphic alongside his announcement. The image compared the pool’s length roughly 618 meters against some of America’s most iconic towers. The Willis Tower in Chicago measures 442 meters. The Empire State Building in New York stands at 443 meters. One World Trade Center in New York reaches 541 meters. The Reflecting Pool, in other words, stretches longer than all of them laid on their sides.
Cheaper and Better Than What Democrats Did
Trump took a pointed jab at his predecessors while commenting on costs. He contrasted his renovation against a $355 million reconstruction project led by former Democratic presidents Joe Biden and Barack Obama.
“The price will be a small fraction of the money they unsuccessfully spent on renovation. Moreover, they only made it worse,” Trump stated bluntly.
Racing Toward a July 4th Finish Line
The President confirmed he wants the renovated pool ready by July 4th America’s Independence Day. He added that the construction work is already moving ahead of schedule.
The Reflecting Pool carries enormous historical and cultural weight. Civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his legendary “I Have a Dream” speech on its banks. The pool also appeared in one of cinema’s most beloved moments the emotional reunion between Forrest Gump and Jenny during an anti-war rally.
