Reports say Trump’s military projects, including the Golden Dome missile shield and Golden Fleet plan, face cancellation after Republicans lost their congressional majority.

Republicans Lose Their Grip on Congress
A string of President Donald Trump’s signature military projects may soon be shelved. This includes the Golden Dome missile defense system and the Golden Fleet naval program. The reason is simple. Republicans lost their majority in Congress following the midterm elections. News outlet Axios reported this, citing defense sector analysts.
“Trump branded” projects are dead. The Golden Dome, Golden Fleet and other signature initiatives will be shelved,” a research note from TD Cowen stated, according to Axios.
A $1.5 Trillion Defense Budget Now Looks Unlikely
Axios noted that analysts broadly agree on one point. Chances of approving the $1.5 trillion defense budget now look slim. The fast track mechanism that once allowed simple majority approval is no longer available.
“All these programs are at risk. Most likely, nothing will be passed on the defense budget,” said Todd Harrison, an expert at the American Enterprise Institute, as quoted by Axios.
Pentagon Chief Could Face Impeachment
There’s more trouble ahead for the administration. A Democratic win could trigger large scale investigations into the Iran operation. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth may also face a possible impeachment push, the outlet reported.
Axios also pointed out something else that worsens things for the Pentagon. Key Republican lawmakers lost their seats too. This includes Susan Collins, who chaired the Senate Appropriations Committee.
Trump Congratulates Democrats on Their Win
Preliminary midterm election results show Republicans lost control of both chambers of Congress. Americans voted to fill all 435 House seats and 35 Senate seats in this election.
Trump publicly congratulated Democrats on their victory. He also claimed Republicans could have done far better if he had personally campaigned.
