Iran Never Agreed to Hand Over Its Highly Enriched Uranium Stockpile, Senior Source Says

Despite Trump’s confident claims of a near-finalised nuclear deal with Tehran, a top Iranian official flatly denies any agreement was ever reached on transferring Iran’s highly enriched uranium deepening uncertainty around one of the most sensitive issues in the ongoing US-Iran standoff.

Iran Rejects Claims of Uranium Transfer Agreement

A high-ranking Iranian official has firmly pushed back against reports suggesting Tehran had agreed to transfer its stockpile of highly enriched uranium. The denial came even as US President Donald Trump publicly stated that a deal with Iran was largely in place with only final details left to iron out before an announcement.

“No agreement on the removal of Iran’s highly enriched uranium stockpile from the country was reached,” the senior Iranian source stated bluntly.

Trump’s Claims Clash With Tehran’s Position

Trump had painted an optimistic picture of the nuclear negotiations. He said the deal was significantly agreed upon and that remaining aspects were actively being discussed. He added that a formal announcement would follow shortly. Tehran’s account of events, however, tells a very different story creating a sharp and public contradiction between the two sides.

A Conflict That Reshaped the Region

The backdrop to these talks is a devastating military confrontation. The United States and Israel launched strikes against targets inside Iranian territory on February 28. Those attacks claimed the lives of more than 3,000 people. On April 8, Washington and Tehran jointly announced a ceasefire, bringing the active hostilities to a halt.

Subsequent negotiations held in Islamabad, however, ended without any breakthrough. While no resumption of fighting has been reported, the United States moved to tighten its grip imposing a blockade on Iranian ports. The combination of economic pressure and failed diplomacy has left the situation deeply unsettled, with the question of Iran’s highly enriched uranium stockpile sitting at the heart of the deadlock.
