Iran launched multiple strikes on US military air bases across Jordan over the past five days. The raids knocked out more than 20 Black Hawk helicopters each valued at around $21 million. Up to five American military personnel were reportedly hurt in the attacks.

Washington and Tehran resumed strikes against each other’s positions on July 8. President Donald Trump declared the earlier ceasefire null and void accusing Iran of attacking commercial vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz. Iran hit back in the night before Sunday, announcing the closure of that critical maritime passage until the United States ends its military involvement in the region.

Three Weeks, One Memorandum, and Then War Again

This latest surge of violence comes just three weeks after both sides signed a memorandum an agreement that was supposed to end the conflict entirely. The fragile deal collapsed almost as fast as it was inked, sending the region back into open confrontation.
