According to an AFP report, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova called the US action a “decision taken in the opposite direction.” She added that it will not help resolve the Ukraine dispute. Furthermore, Russian officials claimed Moscow has developed strong countermeasures to deal with Western sanctions. These mechanisms will be strengthened further in the economic and energy sectors in the future.
Trump Announces Key Sanctions
