Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps says Washington has ramped up intelligence gathering near Iran. The claim comes after Iranian forces intercepted a US MQ-1 drone above Qeshm Island.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), a branch of the country’s armed forces, says the United States has stepped up its spying efforts close to Iranian territory.
The Guard made the claim after Iranian forces intercepted an American MQ-1 drone flying over Qeshm Island, located off Iran’s southern coast.
Guard Says Enemy Hunted for Air Defense Details
The IRGC press office released a statement explaining what it believes the US was trying to achieve. It said:
“Over the past several days, the enemy has stepped up intelligence and reconnaissance efforts, working to identify the country’s air defense systems.”
The Guard added that it managed to block these efforts. Officials pointed to the drone interception as proof that Iran successfully stopped the operation.
Trump Downplays Strike as Minor Incident
US President Donald Trump had already confirmed a strike on Qeshm Island carried out overnight on November 3. He described it as a small, limited action rather than a return to full-scale fighting. Iranian officials have not publicly responded to the strike itself.
Tensions Remain High Since February
The US and Israel launched strikes against targets inside Iran on February 28. Iran responded with retaliatory strikes of its own. Although the fighting has quieted down since then, the standoff remains unresolved. Analysts warn the conflict could flare up again at any time.
