Akola(Maharashtra): A horrifying case emerged in Akola when the city was immersed in Ganesh Visarjan celebrations. A 16-year-old minor girl was assaulted inside her own house after her family had gone for immersion rituals. The accused forced his way into the house and committed the crime while threatening her with a knife. Following the complaint, Dabki Road Police registered a case of rape against the accused, identified as Touhid Samir Baid. According to the complaint, he used a knife to threaten the girl before committing the act, which created panic in the area.
The shocking incident occurred on Saturday, September 6, at around 4:30 PM in the jurisdiction of Dabki Road Police Station. The girl’s relatives had gone for the Ganesh Visarjan procession, leaving her at home. Taking advantage of the empty house, the accused entered the premises. At the time, a man considered to be the victim’s brother happened to pass by. Hearing strange voices, he tried to stop the accused, but Touhid pulled out a knife and threatened him. Meanwhile, nearby residents rushed to the spot to check what was happening.
The accused also threatened the locals with the knife. In that chaos, the girl initially managed to escape from his grip and hid in a nearby house. However, Touhid followed her, threatened her again at knifepoint, and committed the assault. The victim, only sixteen years old, attempted to raise an alarm, but the accused warned her that he would kill her. He further threatened that if she informed her relatives, he would murder her parents and brother. After committing the assault, the accused fled from the scene. Later, when her mother returned home, the frightened girl narrated the entire incident.
The girl’s mother immediately reached Dabki Road Police Station and lodged a complaint. Based on her statement, police booked the accused under the POCSO Act along with other relevant charges. Following this, Bajrang Dal activists gathered at the police station, demanding strict action against Touhid. Police confirmed that a dedicated team has been formed to arrest him. Reports also revealed that the accused had criminal records in Ramdas Peth Police Station and several other locations. Currently, he remains absconding, and police have launched an intensive search operation to track him down.
