From 1–30 August, officials will conduct a state-wide verification to identify ineligible voters before the final rolls are published on 30 September.

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has issued close to three lakh notices in Bihar after discrepancies were detected in voter identification documents during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, officials confirmed on Friday.
During the verification process, Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) uncovered several irregularities, including cases where nationals from neighbouring countries such as Nepal, Bangladesh, Myanmar, and Afghanistan were allegedly found holding Indian voter ID cards.
“These issues came to light during field verification by EROs, following which notices were served. Every individual flagged has been directed to appear before authorities within seven days to clarify or correct their details,” a senior official said.
A state-wide verification exercise is scheduled from 1 to 30 August. Those declared ineligible will be struck off the rolls before the final voter list is published on 30 September.
Booth Level Officers (BLOs), during door-to-door checks, also discovered several foreign nationals possessing multiple Indian documents, including Aadhaar, ration cards, and domicile certificates, sources revealed.
The highest number of such cases have emerged from districts along the border, including East Champaran, West Champaran, Madhubani, Kishanganj, Purnia, Katihar, Araria, and Supaul.
As of Thursday, the ECI had received over 2.11 lakh applications from citizens and political parties for inclusion or deletion of names in the draft electoral rolls. The CPI (ML) Liberation filed eight applications, while the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) submitted nine.

Of these, 24,991 cases have already been resolved by EROs, though the commission has not disclosed how many were related to additions or removals.
The draft rolls were released on 1 August, after the SIR process began on 24 June. So far, documents of 99.11% of Bihar’s 7.24 crore voters have been verified, with 98.2% submitting the required papers between 24 June and 24 August.
