Action Awaits Government Staff Misusing Ladki Bahin Yojana; Funds to be Recovered Post-KYC

Officials and staff who wrongfully claimed scheme benefits will face strict action from the Women and Child Development Department.

Govt Employees Face Action for Scheme Misuse

News has emerged about action against government staff misusing the Ladki Bahin Yojana. Those who took benefits will soon face strict disciplinary measures. The department will recover the taken money and may freeze salary increments. The KYC process for 2.5 crore women revealed these shocking details. Data shows 5,000 employees and 3,000 teachers wrongly benefited. Police and staff from other departments are also on the list. The Women and Child Development Department will send notices for action. Out of 2.5 crore, 1.3 crore women have completed e-KYC so far.

Money Recovery and Stalled Increments

Scrutiny of employees who benefited from the Ladki Bahin Yojana is currently underway. Their specific departments will be identified clearly within the next month. Letters regarding this serious issue will be sent to those departments. Disciplinary action will definitely be taken against these errant employees. Apart from recovering funds, their salary hikes will likely be frozen. The department will issue official letters to the concerned staff members. This applies to those who took money despite having high incomes.

5 Lakh Ineligible Women Removed

The income limit for the scheme is set at 2.5 lakhs. Yet, higher-income citizens took advantage during the busy election period. Around five lakh women with higher family income claimed money illegally. Authorities have now identified and removed them from the scheme. These beneficiaries took advantage of the system’s initial rush.

Status of 1.3 Crore e-KYCs

So far, 1.3 crore eligible women have finished their e-KYC. Over one crore women still need to complete the process. The deadline for them has been extended to December 31. Authorities expect the process to finish within this specific timeframe. If not, the government will take further decisions accordingly. Women without a husband or father can submit death certificates to Anganwadis. This will allow them to complete KYC and get benefits.

Deadline Extended for e-KYC

There is important news for women pending their e-KYC. The deadline for the Ladki Bahin Yojana process is now extended. Previously, completing e-KYC was mandatory by November 18. Now, beneficiaries have time until December 31 to finish it. Minister Aditi Tatkare shared this decision via her social media handles. This helps women who faced floods or other technical difficulties recently.
